Portfolio Development... To begin with, it was quite nerve-racking to be writing it down and taking notes throughout the semester. Please bear with me as I try to gather other materials that may be useful in proving to myself and my teammates that we are capable of winning something!

In my first Week of Portfolio Development, we were greeted along with our module lecturer followed by 2 spokesperson from Open Government Products.

Our class was tasked with handling and completing a challenge statement from one of our partners, Open Government Products, in order to bridge the digital divide for common services.

Because of the popularity of my idea, I was chosen as project leader. Nonetheless, I try to think of new ideas and identify potential problems.

What I envisioned was a mobile application for people with disabilities and the blind to use to access services such as banking online with the convenience of a smartphone.

Some features I outlined

  1. To have a voice recognition so it knows that this is the correct user that is accessing a service for

  2. Simple user interface for the blind to navigate through seamlessly

  3. Generative AI?!?! Chat-GPT?

  4. Speech-To-Text/Text-To-Speech Translator

  5. Screen Reader

  6. Community Forum??

  7. Online Support

Nothing much appears to be happening other than the ideas of attempting to create my proposed Idea: How to create a mobile application for the elderly with disabilities! It was just such a cool idea to come up with out of nowhere that also got me to be a team leader! This was extremely difficult.

I then decided to design a simple mockup of how it would sort of look-like;

Figure 1: EldCom Simple Prototype

This may have been a poor misrepresentation because it doesn't appear to make guiding persons with disabilities simple.

Figure 2: App Navigation User Interface

Throughout the week, me and my classmates have been endlessly typing on What ifs.... How if....

When or what..

What If

  1. The project takes too long to complete.. What will we be able to showcase then?

  2. We are unable to learn how to develop an online application in a few weeks?

  3. We just create an online website instead? Wouldn't that be much easier?

How

  1. How do we find people with disabilities to contact with us for a school project? Dialogue in the Dark? Would that be too much?

  2. Find elderlies to be our primary users for the sake of this project.

  3. do we design it so it is simple and accessible?

When

  1. We have less than a few weeks to develop and pitch our ideas.

  2. To pitch our ideas in a classroom

What are we doing now?

  1. Exploring on other ideas so we can scrap our main idea off

  2. Simplify our main idea

  3. Finding Resources to see how long it takes

  4. Regularly Texting front-and-back.

I'll keep you informed about the upcoming post!

P.S. I'll find you if you steal my content!! >:(
